So….are you a watcher or a player?
Are you easily swayed by the thought of earning money for doing bets that anyone on the World Wide Web can watch? Are you open to having your every move manipulates by a group of anonymous voyeurs?
Vee is. Shown as a weak willed student, worrying about telling her mother she has got in to an art college away from home, Vee finds herself submitting to an on line game that she takes random dares to earn money. The dares get grander in scale as she pairs up with Ia, another player in the craze which is sweeping their city.
This is a faced paced film, with a great visuals, and the acting is pretty good (I really wasn’t expecting that much tbh). The concept of the film is pretty innovative and hits home at the world of on line facinations, but the outcome of this game could become darker.
There is an undertone of peer pressure which is addressed in a way which results in the game getting shut down by a bunch of hackers, to try and demonstrate the immensity of the actions they are taking.
The plot, while pretty good watching, is fairly predictable, none the less it’s an easy watching film with little brain power needed to follow what is going on.
Obviously this film does have a happy ending with Vee finding her back bone and making it to college and getting the guy. Although I couldn’t help thinking her buddy had been seriously friend zoned.
There’s not much else to say on this…it’s an up beat thriller. Save for a rainy Sunday evenings viewing.
