Untitled – Ana Teresa Fernandez

There is only so much fun one can have while hanging out washing in my opinion, but Fernandez elevates the mundane task to something almost elegant in this untitled painting.

The sheet, blows about in the breeze, clinging to the women’s feminine form showing he delightful figure, just a pair of shapely legs on view in a pair of black stiletto heels (although who wears heels to hang out thier washing? Far too much hassle).

The background is stark with just a blue sky, the ground and the shadow cast, which is almost reminiscent to a Bull fighters pose, with then strong dramatic stance and holding the cape which would hide the dagger.

I really like the flow of this piece with the alomost dance like movements and the fluidity of the poise of the women through and her revealed shape.

There is a strong sense of femininity in this piece, the way in which the women is portrayed is still highly sexual even in everyday chores.

Fernandez has a series of work which if you’re as taken with this painting as I am, you can view here.
