The World is Your Oyster (III) – David Gilliver

Sometimes our world gets really busy.  Especially at this time of year with Christmas coming up, it always seems to be the time when the boiler goes, the cat needs an urgent injection, a widow has fallen out and work wants you to do a 47 hour day just so that everything can be completed before everyone goes off on leave.  It’s really easy to forget to take some time for yourself when times like this come about.  Believe me, I am with all of you who, even though it is only the 8th December, are sick to the back teeth of Fairy tale of New York playing on the radio and finding pine needles stuck in the arm of your jumper because you have brushed passed one of the multiple Christmas trees which now form an assault course on your way to buy a coffee.

Gilliver creates beautiful photography which mimics our day to day life, but on a miniature scale.  I am sure that you have all seen the workmen on a watermelon removing the seeds, or the rock climbers using a cheese grater as the rock face.

I particularly like this photo, the idyllic blue waters, encapsulated within the oyster shell, a singular figure fishing in the tranquil pool.  The pearly white shell of the oyster creating the image of the utopian shoreline.    The image is a true picture of peace.

The aerial image also shows that the fisherman has been unsuccessful in his endeavours at the point the photography was taken, regardless he sits, enjoying the serenity which the activity offers.

Remember, the world is your oyster, only you can make the time for yourself and the things you enjoy.  Take the chances and enjoy life, as it isn’t a dress rehearsal.

If you want to see more of Gilliver’s work you can find his webpage here.

What do you think about this photo?  Why not tell me in the comments?
