Ok I know it’s not Christmassy in the slightest, but I was drawn to this, as with my love of all things skeletal, and it seems somewhat relevant at the moment.
Yuumei’s art shows a naive style, but one that lends itself so nicely to this type of drawing. The sketch like quality only showing the main focus of the picture, little else to distract the viewers attention.
The message is so clear and simple, nothing lasts, in this case the woman’s looks will fade, ultimately ending in death, which granted seems a little extreme, but is correct. It also gives another message of taking a step back and looking, really looking, at yourself. Yes the woman’s looks may fade, but before reaching the point of death she has many other facets which can contribute to her beauty, which is not only skin deep.
I like this piece as it is a little reminder of how things turn out in life. Life is a series of cycles, good and bad, up and down, but things generally resolve themselves given the time.
So step back, look at what you have before you, don’t let the bad times consume you as there are brighter things to come. Be thankful for those around you and what they bring to your life.
What do you think of this piece? Why not let me know in the comments?
