Gauntlet…

Today, I am throwing down the gauntlet.  I want to know what art, films, books, photographers etc. you like and if there is anything you think “you know what, I always wandered what that was about…”.

Tell me in the comments and I will work it in to the schedule.

There are literally millions of pieces out there, and while I know a fair few of them, I don’t think by any means I have seen even a tenth of what the visual world has to offer me.  So, pop the name of the picture and the artist, or the name of the film, book with author or anything else you can think of in the comments and I will see what I can come up with about it.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with.

Remember you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by searching for WidowCranky.

  1. A few years ago I was reading a book titled ‘Inferno’ by Dan Brown. In it, he mentioned about the painting ‘Dante’s hell’ by the Italian artist Dante Alighieri. I was very much fascinated by the way Dante recreated hell. He depicted hell as a place divided into rings, each with it’s own and unique set of torture techniques. It was disturbing but very visually appealing at the same time☺️☺️

It would be amazing if you could just spare some time out and enlighten us more about that. I can get tons of facts and explanations through google, but I need to see what does an art enthusiast like you think about it. 😊😊

    Thank you 🙂

  2. This would be kind of a fun thing for me, but definitely not something for you to spend too much time on. After reading you post, I googled to find an answer to it but couldn’t find one. I live in Edmonton (Canada) and your post made me wonder where the nearest place i could go to to literally see a gauntlet. I actually have never seen one, or any of the rest of the equipment that goes with it.

    Love your blog.

    Cheers.

  3. I would like to know more about “The Flowers of Evil” by Thomas Theodor Heine. It could be a variant of the Garden of Eden, but the symbolism eludes me. I don’t suppose it’s related to Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs du Mal”.
